Boris Johnson is now on his fourth attempt at trying to get the House of Commons to agree to an early general election.
On Tuesday, he is expected to put forward a one-page bill in order to hold an election on 12 December 2019.
The one-page bill only requires a simple majority to pass, rather than the support of two-thirds of MPs under the Fixed Terms Parliament Act.
Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, has announced that his party will back the bill, now that a no-deal Brexit has been taken off the table. Therefore, it would seem likely that the bill will pass.
