US President Donald Trump has backtracked on a statement he made at a summit with Vladimir Putin at the recent Helsinki Summit where he said he “didn’t see any reason why Russia would be involved in US election meddling.”
Mr Trump now says he meant to say ‘wouldn’t’ instead of ‘would’.
The backtrack comes after heavy criticism of the President and calls for his impeachment for treason. Mr Trump has since stated that he has full confidence in the US Intelligence agencies and that while he doesn’t believe Russia impacted the results he does believe that they meddle in US electoral affairs.
