British nationals are being advised to leave China as the Coronavirus outbreak continues.
The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office have updated their travel advice to say ‘If you’re in China and able to leave, you should do so. ‘
In a statement on Tuesday, Dominic Raab, the Foreign Secretary said;
“The safety and security of British people will always be our top priority,”
“As such, we now advise British nationals in China to leave the country if they can, to minimise their risk of exposure to the virus.”
Britons are also being advised to avoid “all but essential travel” to mainland China.
The Foreign Office is continuing to arrange the evacuation of any remaining Britons from the Hubei province, it is understood. Restrictions on movements are in place in large parts of China as the country tries to respond to the virus outbreak.
Commercial flights are currently available from other parts of China away from the Hubei province.
The UK government recently announced it was moving non-essential embassy staff out of China, in an effort to prevent them from exposure to the virus.
