Brexit: May and Corbyn live TV debate already cancelled?

British Prime Minister Theresa May agreed on Tuesday to the idea of a live TV debate on Brexit with the leader of Labour, Jeremy Corbyn, who agreed immediately.

When both sides will agree on the format, the debate is expected to take place on 9 December, two days before the vote of the members of the House of Commons on the Brexit Agreement. Theresa May has the accepted BBC’s offer. However, Labour is in discussion with Sky News about being “unhappy” about the BBC proposal. Corbyn also accepted ITV’s proposal because the offered format would not clash with I’m A Celebrity

This is the first time Theresa May has shown herself willing to have a face-to-face discussion with the head of Labour, live on television. The prospect of such a live debate has led several other anti-Brexit parties and organizations to request that one of their representatives take part.

After obtaining the European Union’s approval of the Brexit draft agreement on Sunday, Theresa May is on Tuesday embarking on a tour of Great Britain to rally support in the run-up to the vote on 11 December.
