UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to return to work tomorrow after spending three days in intensive care with COVID-19 earlier this month.
Dominic Raab told Sky News on Sunday that the Prime Minister is ‘raring to go’ and that he will be back on Monday.
Mr Johnson has been recovering at the Prime Minister’s country residence Chequers since being discharged from St Thomas’ Hospital in London on April 12. Mr Johnson spent nearly a week in hospital earlier this month after continuing to experience symptoms of the Coronavirus. While in hospital, his health worsened and he was moved into intensive care, during which time he required oxygen support but not the support of a ventilator.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has been deputizing for the Prime Minister in his absence. On Sunday, he told Sky News’ Sophy Ridge on Sunday programme that the UK is in a “delicate and dangerous” stage of the virus pandemic and that it was “not responsible” to set out how lockdown measures may be eased.
The government is coming under intense pressure from senior Conservatives and party donors to relax the lockdown measures, with many concerned over the damage they are causing to the economy.
Over 20,300 people are now confirmed to have died in UK hospitals after contracting the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
