Artists take part in virtual concerts on Instagram Live raising money to help COVID-19 response

Virtual concerts organised by Global Citizen are raising money for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

The ‘Together At Home’ series on Instagram Live aims ‘to ease people’s minds, and bring them joy and a sense of shared humanity as public shutdowns and social distancing take effect globally’, according to the organisers, Global Citizen.

Launched last week, the series has so far featured virtual concerts by Chris Martin, John Legend, Charlie Puth, Niall Horan, Common, OneRepublic and Hozier.

During Friday’s livestream, Tedder from One Republic urged people to take meaningful action, practice social distancing and said;

“We haven’t seen anything like this in our lifetimes,” he said. “It’s going to take all of us.”

It is hoped that the virtual concerts will provide some entertainment and joy during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

You can watch the virtual concerts each evening on Instagram Live @glblctzn, and you can donate to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund on Facebook.
