Rishi Sunak is to become the new prime minister after being the only candidate to receive the required 100 nominations to get onto the Conservative party leadership ballot
He will now replace Liz Truss just 7 weeks after she defeated him in the previous leadership election.
He is expected to take office either later tonight or tomorrow.
