How many people have been vaccinated in the UK this week?

The UK’s coronavirus vaccination rollout has continued this week, with the latest data showing that nearly 10 million people have received both doses of a vaccine against the virus.

To date, a total of 42,780,069 COVID-19 vaccinations have been given in the UK. A total of 3,192,176 vaccine doses were administered in the UK in the last 7 days up to and including Saturday 17 April – of those, 2,464,306 doses were second doses and 727,870 were first doses.

A total of 32,849,223 people in the UK have received at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19.

People who were aged 45 or over on 30 March 2021 are currently being invited to book a vaccination and can do so on the NHS website.

This week, more lockdown restrictions were eased in England and Wales, including the re-opening of non-essential retail outlets. In England, where outdoor hospitality has also reopened, some concerns have been raised about large crowds of people heading back into city centres, with people being urged by authorities to continue social distancing and following other protective measures.

Coronavirus infection, hospitalisation and death rates have been continuing to fall in the UK, with just 1,882 cases of the virus reported on Sunday. A further 10 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test result were also reported.
