The government’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty is self-isolating after experiencing symptoms of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
It comes after both Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced they had tested positive for the virus.
In a statement of Twitter, Professor Whitty said;
“After experiencing symptoms compatible with COVID-19 last night, in line with the guidance, I will be self-isolating at home for the next seven days,”
“I will be continuing to advise the government on the medical response to coronavirus, supported by my deputies.”
Professor Whitty has been at many of Downing Street’s daily Coronavirus press conferences over recent weeks, on occasions standing next to the Prime Minister, who has now tested positive for the virus.
