Richard Braine has been elected as the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), following a ballot of members where he received 53%.
Mr Braine said after his victory that he wanted to establish UKIP as the “far-moderate voice of common sense” in Britain.
UKIP lost all its European Parliament seats in May’s election and holds no seats in the UK’s House of Commons.
There have now been 8 different UKIP leaders since the EU referendum in 2016. The party’s most famous figure, Nigel Farage stepped down after the Brexit vote as is now the leader of the Brexit Party.
