The Democratic Unionist Party is prepared to vote against Theresa May’s Conservative government on the budget if their red lines for an EU deal are ignored next week.
The 10 Union MPs prop up Theresa May’s government, which has no majority, as part of a confidence and supply deal in which they are relied to vote through the government’s budget.
Should the budget not pass a Commons vote it could trigger a confidence motion in the Prime Minister putting her future leadership into question.
The DUP constantly stated there can be no border in the Irish sea and Northern Island must leave the EU on the same terms as the United Kingdom.
An announcement on what a possible deal could look like on the Irish border could be made as soon as Monday.
A DUP source told Sky News: “It is unacceptable that we would be treated differently to the rest of the UK.
“We will not be bounced into anything.
“If Theresa May doesn’t take concerns on board, she may not be the leader to take us through Brexit.”
The DUP has a confidence and supply deal with the Conservative minority in order to help it see through votes in the commons.
