Theresa May has officially taken the reins over Brexit negotiations ahead of Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab. In an announcement made earlier today, written by Mrs May, responsibility for the talks has formally moved to her. The statement read: “I will lead the negotiations with the European Union, with the secretary of state for Exiting the European Union deputising on my behalf.”

Ian Paisley was voted to be suspended by fellow MPs from the Democratic Unionist Party for 30 days following his breach of parliamentary conduct. The North Antrim MP will be suspended from the 4th of September after he failed to declare two family holidays which were provided and paid for by the government of Sri Lanka. Due to this, he will not be present for some key Brexit negotiations and votes. In addition, he was suspended from the Democratic Unionist Party until further notice “pending further investigation into his conduct”.

And in other news,

Ivanka Trump – President Trump’s daughter and white house Senior Adviser – announces that she is closing her namesake clothing brand. Officially Ivanka is dropping the brand to focus on her commitments in the white house, despite stepping away from the company in 2017. However, insiders are suggesting that the brand has never recovered following a series of conflict of interest stories and boycotts since her father’s 2016 election.
