Boris Johnson: ‘it is not too late to save Brexit’

The former foreign secretary, Boris Johnson, resigned last week over his disagreement of the Chequers plan as a sign of protest.

\in his resignation speech at Parliament on Wednesday, he criticised Theresa May’s Chequers plan and advises her to change course before it’s too late.

“It is not too late to save Brexit … There is time.”, he stated.

In his speech, he also praised the prime minister for her “courage and resilience”.

While he openly disagreed with the idea of Chequers, he also mentioned that if it were to be implemented, it would leave the country in a”miserable, permanent limbo.”

He said that the government had been going through a fog of doubt since Brexit negotiations commenced last year and that if Chequers would be implemented, it would be a “Brexit in name only”.

Mr Johnson praised the Lancaster approach and said that he always has and always will encourage that approach as it is, in his views, the “right vision”.
