The First Minister of Wales Mark Drakeford will today announce plans for Wales to move back to Alert Level Zero if the public health situation continues to improve in the country.
Wales has been under tighter coronavirus restrictions than England over recent weeks, with nightclubs closed and limits on attendance at events.
In a press conference at 12:15 today, Mr Drakeford is to set out a two-week plan to ease the alert level two restrictions which have been in place since Boxing Day. According to the Welsh Government, protections put in place in response to the omicron wave can start to be removed following the support of people across Wales and a successful booster campaign.
Restrictions on outdoor activities are expected to be first to be removed under the phased easing of restrictions.
Cases of COVID-19 have fallen significantly in Wales since the start of the new year, with 3,197 cases of the virus reported on Thursday.
