Universities and Science Minister Becomes Latest to Resign Over Brexit Deal

Sam Gyimah, the Universities and Science Minister, resigned from Theresa May’s government on Friday night after the Prime Minister confirmed the UK would be leaving the Galileo satellite-navigation project after Brexit.

This latest resignation is the seventh faced by the PM since she unveiled her Brexit agreement with the EU last month.

The MP, who voted Remain in the EU Referendum, described the PM’s deal as a “false choice”.

“All the big questions are still in play so we’re not at the end of the process, we’re at the beginning.”

“What has been presented as a deal is actually where we hope to land – I don’t think that’s credible.”

Mr Gyimah formerly worked under David Cameron and was an early supporter of Theresa May’s Conservative Party leadership campaign.
