These contributors’ terms will explain the terms for anyone submitting content for potential publication at speakerpolitics.co.uk (referred to in this policy as the “website”) or otherwise by The Speaker Media Limited.
In these terms, ‘content’ means any copyright work as set out in copyright legislation and covers both content intended for publication as well background content which has been used directly or indirectly for content intended for publication. These terms do not cover sponsored content submissions, which have a separate set of terms, which can be accessed from our policies page.
These terms will not be varied, except if we agree explicitly in writing to a variation. We may change these terms at any time and it is your responsibility to check them every time you submit content for potential publication. If the terms are updated, they will be displayed on this page and you agree to be bound by the latest version of these terms at the time of submitting content for potential publication.
When Might We Accept Contributions?
We are happy to accept contributions from external contributors at any time for potential publication. This is no way acts as a guarantee that any content submitted may be published.
Content you submit must be your own work and must not plagiarised, partially or completely copied from another source without prior written consent. Content you provide must be free of viruses and other malicious software. Content must not be written in a way or include materials that could be deemed offensive, racist or sexist. Content must not contain materials which are illegal, promote illegal activity or are likely to face legal challenges. If you are providing images, graphics or other materials with your content, submitting these means that you agree they are owned by and are the property of you at the time of submission. If we find any materials to be in breach of this, we reserve the right to reject your submission and any future submissions by you to the website.
You agree to be held responsible for any views or opinions expressed in content you provide to us. We will not endorse your views and your content must not lead a reader to believe we may endorse your viewpoint. We reserve the right to publish an accompanying notice or otherwise to alert our readers to any content that is neither written nor endorsed by us.
Your content must be written in English. We reserve the right to only publish content which we feel fit for our site and audience. For this reason, we recommend that content be written in an accessible and understandable format, and also checked for spelling and grammar mistakes before being submitted to us. Content should be fact-checked and referenced using reliable sources. If we find content you submit to us to be obviously false, inaccurate or misleading, we may reject your submission and any futures submissions of content by you to our website.
Who Will Own The Content?
When you submit content to us, we will require and will assume the exclusive right to first publication in any medium. The following exceptions may apply to this;
- If we contact you in writing to make you aware that this right is not required
- If there has been a delay in publishing your material, it may be possible for you to request a waiver by our organisation of our exclusive right to first publication of your content. Any such request should be sent by you to firstname.lastname@example.org. We ask that you only submit such a request after a reasonable amount of time has passed from the time at which you originally submitted your content. Any variation of the terms must be negotiated in writing and approved by an official representative in our organisation.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing by a representative of our organisation, the following terms will apply and will be effective from when we first receive content from you;
- You will retain copyright
- We have the following rights, which apply throughout the world, are perpetual, irrevocable and sub-licensable, and, are exclusive for one year from the date of submission of your content and non-exclusive thereafter;
- the right to distribute, syndicate, license, republish or retransmit the content in all present and future media formats available to us.
- the rights in the title and format used in respect of your content
- We also have the following non-exclusive rights, which apply to all and any content you submit to us;
- the right to amend or alter, add to or reduce your content as we see appropriate
- the right to store your content on our systems, in a database and/or archive
You agree that any variation of these terms must be agreed in writing by us prior to any variation taking place.
Will My Content Be Published?
You agree that by submitting content to us, this does not act as a guarantee of your content being published. We may not publish your content for a set period of time or at all, and we may or may not give reasons for this. You also agree that we may take down, move or restrict access to your published submitted content at any time, with or without explanation.
Provided your content meets all of the terms set out in this policy, and we consider it appropriate for our website and audience, we will usually publish your content if possible. We will attempt to contact you if we publish your contact.

No payment of any form will be made in exchange for content submitted to us. There will be no exceptions to this, unless we agree it prior to publishing your content in writing or in a contractual agreement.
Warranties, Liability and Indemnity
You warrant that your material is your original work and complies with all the terms set out above. You confirm that you are over the age of 16 years old. If you are not over the age of 16 years old and wish to submit content to us, you must get prior permission from your parent of guardian.
To the extent permissible in law, we will not be liable for any loss including but not limited to the following (whether such losses are foreseen, known or otherwise) loss of data, loss of revenue or anticipated profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill or injury to reputation, losses suffered by third parties, any indirect, consequential or exemplary damages.
You agree to indemnify us against all costs, claims, proceedings, demands, losses, damages, expenses or liability whatsoever arising either directly or indirectly as a result of any breach of these terms by you and any negligence or breach of duty by you.
By submitting any content to us, you understand and agree that these terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England. You also agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in relation to any dispute that may arise in connection with the terms stated here.
