UK Elections delayed amid Coronavirus outbreak

The UK Local Elections and the London Mayoral Elections have been postponed amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

Local elections had been due to take place in the UK on Thursday 7 May to elect candidates to seats on 118 English local councils and to select mayors in eight areas. Following a request for a postponement by the Electoral Commission, the elections will now take place in the Autumn.

The London Mayoral Elections have been delayed until 2021.

On Thursday, it was announced that the UK was moving into the delay phase of its response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. So far, there have been 10 deaths from the virus in the UK.
