Lockdown extended in Scotland until at least mid-February

Scotland's lockdown will be extended until at least mid-February, it has been announced.

People in Scotland are currently under stay at home lockdown orders, much like in England and the other nations of the UK.

On Tuesday, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that COVID-19 case numbers have been stabilising and starting to fall in the country, however, infection rates still remain too high for a relaxation of restrictions to be implemented.

Schools in Scotland will also stay closed to the majority of pupils until at least the middle of next month.

A further 1,165 cases of COVID-19 were reported in Scotland on Tuesday, while 71 further deaths within 28 days of a positive Coronavirus test were reported.
