Pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants to reopen indoors in Wales from Monday

First Minister Mark Drakeford will tomorrow confirm that pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants will be able to re-open indoors from Monday in Wales.

Pubs and restaurants were allowed to reopen in England from Saturday 4 July. The Welsh Government allowed pubs, restaurants and cafes with outdoor spaces in Wales to reopen from 13 July, however, indoor spaces have so far remained closed.

Mr Drakeford is to present Friday’s Welsh Government Press Conference from Cathays Park in Cardiff when he will make the announcement about the venues re-opening indoors.

Earlier this month, the First Minister had indicated that pubs and restaurants may be able to open indoors from Monday 3 August, provided it was considered safe for them to do so. Continued progress in tackling the Coronavirus in Wales has led to this date now being confirmed, following the sixth review of Coronavirus regulations in the country.

The First Minister will also announce further changes to the Coronavirus restrictions on Friday lunchtime.
