Protesters take to the streets following US airstrike

Protestors have been marching in the US, Europe and the Middle East following the killing of Iran’s most senior general in a US airstrike.

Some Americans and many other citizens across the world have condemned the airstrike that killed General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad. On Saturday, more than 150 anti-war activists gathered outside Downing Street in the UK, while protesters in Washington held up banners which said ‘No New War’.

Hundreds have also protested in Berlin and Toronto.

In Iran, tens of thousands have taken to the streets in recent days, burning US and British flags and chanting ‘death to America’.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared three days of mourning following the strike, as has Iraq.
