Corbyn sacks Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary over call for second EU referendum

Former shadow Northern Ireland secretary Owen Smith has been sacked after attacking Brexit and breaking Labour Party policy by campaigning for a second EU referendum in a newspaper article.

Following the sacking, Owen Smith has been receiving support from across the Labour Party with many MPs critical of Jeremy Corbyn and his decision.

It is thought Mr Corbyn's decision could reignite internal war within the Labour Party. Mr Smith has been replaced by the veteran former minister, Tony Lloyd.
