Germany, Italy, France and Spain have joined a list of countries that have suspended the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Coronavirus vaccines.
Over recent days, a number of countries have suspended the use of the jabs due to concerns over reports that some people have developed blood clots after receiving the vaccine.
The European Medicines Agency is currently looking into the reports, with there currently no confirmed evidence that the vaccine itself has directly caused the blood clots. At least 30 cases of blood clotting have been reported after people were given the vaccine.
AstraZeneca has said that there is no cause for concern. In the UK, the rollout of the vaccines is continuing, with the MHRA not advising any suspension of the use of the vaccines.
The temporary suspension of vaccine rollouts to investigate potential adverse side effects is not uncommon, though the World Health Organisation is currently advising countries not to suspend their vaccinations.
