More areas of England to face tier 3 lockdown restrictions including Warrington and Nottingham

More areas are to move into the highest tier of England’s local lockdown system, it has been confirmed.

People living in Warrington, the city of Nottingham, Rushcliffe, Gedling and Broxtowe will face tighter restrictions from later this week. Warrington will move into the ‘very high’ alert level at 00:01 on Tuesday, whereas the affected areas of Nottinghamshire listed above will move into the ‘very high’ tier from 00:01 on Thursday.

Under the new restrictions, interhousehold mixing will be banned in all indoor settings and some outdoor settings, while all pubs and bars that do not serve substantial meals will have to close.

Betting shops, adult gaming centres, casinos and soft play centres and areas will also close in addition to the standard tier 3 restrictions.
