Scottish First Minister Pushes Customs Union Goal With EU Brexit Negotiator

Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has met with the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier in Brussels in an attempt to reiterate her goal for the UK to remain in the customs union and single market after its departure from the bloc next year.

Following the meeting, Sturgeon has claimed that the EU was sympathetic towards Scotland, who voted by 62% to remain in the bloc in the EU Referendum in June 2016.

The Conservative party who currently govern the UK are split on whether to remain in or leave the customs union.
