The maximum stakes on gambling machines has been cut in an announcement from the Government.
Currently, gamblers using fixed-odd betting terminals can bet up to £100 every 20 seconds. A review by the Gambling Commission has recommended that the maximum stakes are slashed to £2 every 20 seconds.
Culture Secretary Matt Hancock is has accepted the findings of the report.
However, Betfred has said 900 of its shops will become loss-making overnight, in the addition to 4500 job losses if the changes are implemented.
