TV licence fee set to rise from April 1

TV licence fee set to rise from April 1

The cost of the annual TV licence fee is set to rise on 1 April, according to the BBC.

The fee, which is set by the government, is to rise from £154.50 to £157.50. In 2016, the government announced the fee would rise in line with inflation for five years from 1 April 2017.

The new fee is roughly £3 a week.

The rise in the cost of the licence fee has sparked anger amongst many social media users, with some asking what they get for their money. There have been calls in recent months for non-payment of the fee to be decriminalized, with the government suggesting they may look into this option.
