Spain's prime minister has been ousted in a vote of no confidence following a corruption scandal. Mariano Rajoy, who has led the country for over 6 years, is the only Spanish prime minister to lose such a vote since Spain's transition to democracy in 1977.

Mr Rajoy admitted defeat ahead of the vote on Friday morning, which he lost by 11 votes.

29 former members of Mr Rajoy's conservative Popular Party were recently convicted of corruption and evidence was uncovered to show members were offered brides in return for public contracts.
