Repayment threshold rises for tuition fee loans

Former students will now be able to earn more before they have to repay their tution fee loans, after the Government increased the repayment threshold.

English and Welsh students who took out loans from 2012 will now only have to start repaying their loan when they are earning £25,000 per year, rather than £21,000.

The Government says the changes could see graduates save up to £360 a year. The National Union of Students described the threshold increase as a ‘welcome relief for many.
