Plastic straws and cotton buds set to be banned in England

A new Government plan could see the sale of plastic straws, stirrers and cotton buds banned in England. 

It is thought around 8.5 billion plastic straws are thrown away each year. The new plan from the Government is looking to reduce the large amounts of plastic currently polluting our oceans. 

Environment Secretary Michael Gove had hinted earlier this year that a ban could be put in place.
