NHS: Worst A&E Waiting Times On Record

NHS England suffered the worst A&E waiting times on record in March, with just 86.4% of accident and emergency patients being seen within four hours – dropping from 90% in March 2017.

As the NHS continues to face unprecedented pressure, it saw more emergency admissions in March than ever before, with the number up 3.3%, totalling never 17,000 per day. In total, 2,047,092 people were admitted to A&E departments during the month of March.

A spokesperson from NHS England said: “As expected, these figures for a month ago confirm what was widely reported at the time, namely that during March the NHS continued to experience severe winter pressures.”
