More than 60,000 fans to be allowed in Wembley for Euro 2020 final

More than 60,000 fans to be allowed in Wembley for Euro 2020 final

The UK Government has announced that more than 60,000 fans will now be permitted to attend the semi-finals and final of UEFA Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium.

The announcement means that attendance will be increased to 75% of the stadium's capacity, seeing the largest crowds for a sporting event in more than 15 months.

It had previously been announced that at least 40,000 fans would be able to attend the round of 16 match on 29 June, semi-finals and final game of the competition, managed as part of the Government's Event Research Programme which is looking at how to safely manage large events while coronavirus remains in general circulation.

All ticket holders for the games will need to follow entry requirements, including having proof of a negative COVID-19 test or proof of full vaccination (two doses received at least 14 days before the fixture).

Ticket holders that are registered with a GP will be able to display their proof of vaccination via the NHS app or equivalent printed proof. People will be able to provide proof of a negative coronavirus lateral flow test via email, text message or the NHS app.

Announcing the plans, Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said;

"We are thrilled that more fans will now be able to walk through the Wembley turnstiles and enjoy the finals of EURO 2020.

"As we continue to make progress on our roadmap out of lockdown, keeping the public safe remains our top priority. We have worked extremely closely with UEFA and the FA to ensure rigorous and tight public health measures are in place whilst allowing more fans to see the action live."

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has welcomed the plans, saying that he is "grateful to the Prime Minister and the UK Government for their hard work in finalising these arrangements with us".
