Italy closes all schools and universities amid Coronavirus outbreak

Italy is closing all schools and universities across the country as it battles to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

Schools and universities had already been closed in the north of the country where the virus outbreak was worst, however, the closures are now extending to the whole country until 15 March.

The announcement of the closures was made on Wednesday by Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the minister of education. Italy has been one of the countries to suffer the most from the virus outbreak so far. 107 people have died and there have been over 3000 cases in the country so far.

In Italy, many public events have been cancelled and many attractions closed. China, Iran and South Korea have also been particularly badly affected by the virus outbreak. In the UK, there are now 87 cases of the virus in total.
