Angela Rayner expected to face Boris Johnson at PMQs in absence of Keir Starmer

Deputy Labour Leader Angela Rayner is expected to face Boris Johnson over the despatch box at Prime Minister’s Questions this Wednesday lunchtime as Sir Keir Starmer remains in self-isolation.

Labour Leader, Keir Starmer went into self-isolation on Monday after a member of his family displayed symptoms of COVID-19. The member of the household has been tested, but it is understood that the family are “still awaiting” the result of the test.

Rayner, MP for Ashton under Lyne is both the Chair and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, as well as the Shadow First Secretary of State.

It can be expected that Rayner will question Mr Johnson over the country’s Coronavirus testing system, with reports over recent days that some people have been unable to get tested for the virus or have been told to travel hundreds of miles in order to get a test.

On Tuesday, Rayner said on Twitter that the situation around testing was “a complete shambles”.

PMQs takes place in the House of Commons from 12pm on Wednesday lunchtime.
