Boris Johnson prepares Cabinet reshuffle

There are expected to be plenty of comings and goings through the door of 10 Downing Street over the next 24 hours as Boris Johnson undertakes a cabinet reshuffle.

It is unclear how many changes may be made, but it is expected that several ministers could change role or leave the Cabinet. It is thought unlikely that any of the current Chancellor Sajid Javid, Home Secretary Priti Patel or Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will be moved in the reshuffle, but other Cabinet ministers will likely be feeling considerably more anxious.

Mr Johnson made few changes after his resounding general election victory in December, with it being an indicated that a larger overhaul of the Cabinet was coming. Cabinet reshuffles are not uncommon and are usually designed in a way which attempts to ensure loyalty and unity within the government.

Key roles to watch are those of the person to lead Brexit trade talks and another to take charge of the Cop 26 Climate Summit. A new minister is also expected to be appointed to oversee the building of the HS2 project.
