British Airways suspends all flights to and from mainland China

British Airways has suspended all flights to and from mainland China as fears grow over the coronavirus outbreak.

The decision by the British airline came after the UK Foreign Office advised against all but essential travel to China.

Usually, the airline offers daily flights to Bejing and Shanghai from London Heathrow. The suspension of flights is currently until 31 January, although this may change as the coronavirus is being closely monitored.

The UK government along with the governments of other nations have been arranging to evacuate their citizens from Wuhan and the surrounding Hubei province.

It is currently unclear whether other airlines may also suspend flights to and from the country.

Information and advice on travel to and from China can be found on the UK Foreign Office website.
