Ten shot in Greater Manchester

Ten people have been hospitalised in Greater Manchester after a shooting in the Moss Side area.

Police were called to the incident at around 02:30.

The area had hosted a Caribbean Carnival which had finished just a few hours before, it is believed that some of the injured may have been at the event.

Detective Superintendent Debbie Dooley said, 'we currently have a number of people in hospital all being treated for different injuries but thankfully most do not appear to be life-threatening at this time'.

Officers have been trying to establish who is responsible for the attack, as of yet it is not believed any arrests have been made.

Police are currently patrolling the area and will continue to do so in the coming days to give reassurance to local residents about their safety.
