Young people invited to apply to represent UK at key global events in 2022

Young people are now being invited to apply to represent the UK at key global events in 2022, including the Youth 7, Youth 20 and COP27.

The Future Leaders Network, which is the organisation responsible for managing the Y7 and Y20 in the UK, are looking for changemakers who want to champion the voices of young people in 2022, while gaining unique experiences.

The Youth 7 and Youth 20 are among the engagement groups of the G7 and G20, with the groups getting to represent the views of young people to world leaders. This year, the G7 took place in the UK and saw young people from the Y7 raise key issues on behalf of young people – from skills, to the environment.

Next year, the Y7 is due to take place in Germany, with the Y20 in Indonesia. Young people can also apply to represent the UK at the COP27 climate change conference which is due to take place in Egypt in November 2022.

Any young person, aged 18-30, and who has lived in the UK for at least 5 years, can apply to the opportunities. Applications are being welcomed from young people across the country, with no prior experience required for the role.

Dominic Jones, who was a UK delegate for the Youth 7 this year, encouraged people to apply to the roles and said;

“Being a delegate to the Youth 7 is a fantastic opportunity to develop as a leader and make your mark on the world, representing the UK on the international stage and ensuring that young people have their voices heard loud and clear. I would encourage anyone eligible to apply to this great experience!”

Applications to become a delegate close at 23:59 on 31 December, with more info on the Future Leaders Network website.
