Security agency GCHQ has announced plans to build a new intelligence base in Manchester. The announcement comes after a terror attack at an Arianna Grande concert at Manchester Arena last year killed 22 people.
Jeremy Flemming, the director of the GCHQ said “Our new facility will open up a huge new pool of highly talented, tech-savvy recruits vital to our future success,”
Flemming said “Manchester is a city full of innovation and talent.”
It is thought that the new base will open next year, and will be “at the heart of the nation’s security, using cutting-edge technology and technical ingenuity”
