Dozens of new Windrush cases under investigation

At least forty-nine new cases are being investigated after a helpline was setup for Windrush generation immigrants according to the Home Office.

The Windrush Generation came to Britain from the Commonwealth after the Second World War. Anyone who entered the country before 1973 is legally entitled to live in the UK.

The new cases come as Theresa May has defended the decision in 2010 to destroy the landing cards recording the arrival of the immigrants. The Government has faced criticism over the scandal in recent days as it is thought as many as 50,000 are experiencing difficulties trying to find work or access benefits and public services.
