Conference attendees warned over Coronavirus case

Two Labour MPs have cancelled public engagements until 20 February as a precaution as hundreds are warned by health officials that they may have come into contact with a person diagnosed with the Coronavirus.

One attendee at last week’s UK Bus Summit at the QEII Conference Centre was diagnosed with the virus, leading to attendees being contacted.

Nine people have so far tested positive for the virus in the UK. According to the latest figures, over 1,300 people are so far known to have died from the virus in China.

Both MP Lilian Greenwood and Alex Sobel MP attended the conference and are now believed to be following advice from Public Health England. Both MPs have said they are not exhibiting any symptoms but are remaining cautious.

Parliament is currently in recess until 24 February 2020.
