Hurricane Florence has now left a reported 11 dead after more than 30 inches of rainfall. The Hurricane, since downgraded to a Tropical Storm has left nearly 1 million homes without power due to heavy winds and flooding damaging the electrical grid. The storm has officially dropped the most rainfall of any recorded storm in North Carolina’s history and is expected to continue into next week.
Recent allegations of sexual misconduct towards Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh have been denied by the justice. A woman – who wishes to remain unidentified – accused Kavanaugh of trying to force himself on her at a party in high school. He has stated that he ‘did not do this back in high school or at any time’.
America’s east coast is not the only place to be battered by a storm with Typhoon Mangkut battering the Philippines. Flooding, landslides and power outages have wreaked havoc with the storm recording winds up to 75mph higher than those seen by Hurricane Florence. It has left 14 people dead so far and is expected to hit China’s east coast in the coming days.

Lleyton Hewitt was subbed into Australia’s Davis Cup team to help the nation beat Austria. Hewitt, who has not played a Davis Cup match since 2016 helped to defeat Austria 6-2 6-4 3-6 7-5 to keep Australia in the hunt for a Davis Cup playoff. His return saw jubilation from Australian fans with Hewitt showing he’s still got it at the age of 37.
