Theresa May has arrived in Africa for a 3-day tour to drum up support for a post-Brexit Britain. On the first day of her visit, she announced that an extra £4 billion would go towards supporting African economies. May has insisted that striking a trade deal with South Africa would be beneficial for a “global Britain” once the UK leaves the EU in March 2019.
President Donald Trump has issued a warning to social media companies over what he has called an anti-conservative bias. Speaking from the White House he stated that Facebook, Twitter and Google should be ‘very careful’. He earlier tweeted that Google is ‘rigged’ and shows predominantly shows ‘fake news media’ stories about him. It is unclear as to whether the president has any evidence for these claims, however, the White House are said to be considering a degree of regulation over the search engine.
Russia have announced they are planning to hold the biggest ‘war games’ since the fall of the Soviet Union. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the drill, named Vostok-2018, is justified due to the ‘current international situation’. It is expected to involve 300,000 personnel, 1,000 aircraft and 36,000 tanks.

Two members of England’s heroic World Cup semi-final reaching squad have announced their retirement from international football. Jamie Vardy and Gary Cahill have announced they will withdraw themselves from future England selection, instead focusing on their club careers. Both over 30 it is likely that England manager Gareth Southgate will take the opportunity to blood new youngsters into the squad for England’s upcoming games against Switzerland and America.
