French police have opened an investigation after the head of Interpol, Meng Hongwei, went missing. Hongwei’s family have not heard from him since he left his home in Lyon for a trip back to China last week. Hongwei became Interpol president in 2016 and is meant to serve until 2020. His disappearance is said to be extremely concerning.

Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination has been sent to the floor of the Senate for a vote. The Senate now have a final 30 hours to debate and deliberate on his nomination before a final vote will decide if he serves on the court. A final decision is expected in the next 48 hours.

A man has been found guilty on two counts of attempted murder after pushing Sir Robert Malpas, 91, on to the tracks at Marble Arch tube station. Paul Crossley, 46, was found guilty of trying to kill Malpas, and another man who he attempted to push onto the tracks at a different station moments later.

And in other news,

A Banksy work entitled ‘Girl With Balloon’ has self-destructed moments after being sold at auction. The work was won by a phone bidder, coming in at £1,042,000 once a buyer’s premium had been added. The work, sold by Sotheby’s the proceeded to shred itself with a mechanism within the base of the frame, rendering the piece destroyed.
