Balearic Islands added back to England’s travel amber list

The Balearic Islands and the British Virgin Islands are to be moved to England’s amber list from 19 July – just weeks after they were added to the travel green list.

The Balearic Islands, which include Ibiza, Majora, Formentera and Menorca, were added to the green watchlist on 30 June, but Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced on Wednesday that they would move back onto the amber list.

Also from 19 July, Bulgaria and Hong Kong will be added to the green list, while Croatia and Taiwan will be added to the green watchlist of destinations. Cuba, Indonesia, Myanmar and Sierra Leone will be added to the red list.

People who travel to amber list destinations currently need to self-isolate for 10 days on their return, however, this requirement will be lifted for fully vaccinated people from 19 July.
