Airbus to leave the UK if no Brexit deal is implemented

If the UK leaves the EU without being involved in the single market or the customs union, then Airbus might have to leave the UK .

The European company Airbus is a plane maker which currently employs around 14,000 people and operates in 25 different areas within the UK, half of which are located in Wales.

Airbus warns that a no-deal Brexit is quite risky especially for those who are employed in Wales as it would make 14,000 jobs redundant.

The Welsh government has said that it was “extremely worrying”.

On Thursday, Airbus released their “risk assessment” where it stated that if the UK left the EU without a set deal or a transition deal then it would drastically slow down business as they would not be part of the single market.

They added, “this scenario would force Airbus to reconsider it’s investrments in the UK, and it’s long term footprint in the country.”
